This release gives us even more reason to be excited for the forthcoming project Nothing Bigger Than The Program, providing a raw, engaging preview.Herbert Anthony Stevens IV (born February 23, 1987), better known by his stage name Ab-Soul, is an American rapper from Carson, California, signed to Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope Records. Ahead of the album's release, they have shared a new track and visual for “The Plug”, a cinematic joint featuring hazy, raw production from Marciano and sharp, poignant bars from Worthy. Ab-Soul made few appearances over the next several years, and returned in 2022 with Herbert, his fifth album for Top Dawg Entertainment. The album is entirely produced by Roc Marciano and features guest verses from Bun B, Ashton Matthews, Jay 305, A$AP Ant, Bart Oatmeal, Kurupt, Ab-Soul, Kokane, and Da$h. Worthy and Marciano have announced a joint album, Nothing Bigger Than The Program, set to arrive on May 26. The visual features muted, textural shots that add a retro appeal featuring scenes from old films, enhancing the track's cinematic feel. Kokane then adds dynamics with a raspy, sung hook that lingers in the listener's memory, while Ab-Soul drops off impactful lines in his usual display of vivid lyricism. The drumless instrumental suits Worthy's character-rich delivery and sleek, confident flows, while he demonstrates his focus as a lyricist. "The Plug"'s production, provided by Roc Marciano, creates an atmospheric, hazy soundscape that adds a tangible griminess to operatic samples. With “The Plug”, they present a cinematic soundscape featuring hazy, raw production from Marciano and sharp bars from Worthy, Kokane, and Ab-Soul, accompanied by a gritty new visual.
